ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team saw a fourth quarter rally fall just short in a tough 65-54 loss at Eastern University on Tuesday in the team's final Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth game of the regular season.
The Eagles outscored the Flying Dutchmen 22-9 in the first quarter to take an early lead. LVC fought back and outscored the hosts 18-12 in the second quarter to make it a seven-point game going into halftime. Eastern used a 14-12 advantage to take a nine-point lead into the final quarter. The Dutchmen used strong outside shooting to get the game to within three at 57-54 with just under three minutes left.
The Eagles closed out the game with six made free throws and a layup to set the final score.
Inside the Numbers
- Kate Fitzpatrick shot just under 50% from the field to finish with a team-high 16 points. It is her eighth game this season in double figures.
- Kennedy Kuffa recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
- The LVC bench outscored the Eastern bench, 16-8 led by Cristina Fernandez with 12 points.
Who's Next
The regular season is over for LVC (11-14, 6-10 MACC) as the team sits in sixth place in the MACC standings with the rest of the conference still having one game left to play on Saturday. The Dutchmen will be back in action next Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the MACC Quarterfinals. LVC will be on the road for their quarterfinal game.
