Men’s Indoor Track and Field Starts Strong At Diplomat Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's indoor track and field team had 25 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships qualifiers on Friday in the team's first meet of the season at the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Trey Reynolds won the weight throw with a toss of 15.01 meters (49'3") on his fifth attempt. Cody Shay was third throwing 13.60 meters (44'7") on his fifth toss. Both Reynolds and Shay were MAC qualifiers. Reynolds also finished third in the shot put with a mark of 13.73 meters (45'0.5") on his fifth throw. He was one of six Dutchmen to qualify for MACs in the event as Ian Paul, William Fisher, Shay,Alex Sabo, and Wyatt Hetrick joined them with a MAC-qualifying toss.
 
Robert Shoff qualified in the high jump with a height of 1.75 meters (5'9"). Darren Rodoff was a MAC qualifier in the pole vault with a height of 3.94 meters (12'11") to finish tied for fifth. Josh Otto finished second in the long jump with a MAC qualifying mark of 6.30 meters (20'8") on his second jump. Eddie Myers was fourth with a mark of 6.11 meters (20'0.5")) on his fourth jump while Ayden Stankus also qualified for MACs with a jump of 5.85 meters (19'2.25") on his second attempt. Otto and Myers were also qualifiers in the triple jump where they were joined by Kadan Smith putting three qualifiers in the event. Otto had a mark of 12.16 meters (39'10.75") on his second jump while Smith reached 11.93 meters (39'1.75") on his second attempt and Myers hit 11.84 meters (38'10.25") on his third jump.
 
Zach Reed won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.50 seconds while Smith was third in 8.69 seconds. Daniel Murtha gave the Dutchmen three in the top five with a time of 8.78 seconds. All three qualified for the MAC Championships while Reed and Smith were also AARTFC-qualifying times.. Alec Di Cesare, Sam Rothstein, and Andy Loy finished second, third, and fourth in the 1000 meters. Di Cesare ran 2:39.03, Rothstein had a time of 2:43.87, and Loy finished in 2:45.41. Owen Linder ran a MAC-qualifying time in the 60-meter dash crossing the line in 7.29 seconds.
 
Matt Bruchak finished fifth in the 400 meters with a MAC-qualifying time of 54.03 seconds. Donovan Goundie was also a MAC qualifier with a time of 54.37 seconds. Reed and Linder qualified in their second event of the day as Reed was third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.61 seconds and Linder was fifth finishing in 23.80 seconds. The Dutchmen had 11 of the 14 runners in the 3000 meters and finished in the top five spots. Joe Chukoski won with a MAC qualifying time of 9:13.34. Brandon Stasulli was second in 9:40.95, Donnie Miller finished third in 9:42.42, Andy Loy was fourth in 9:54.86, and Alec Di Cesare was fifth in the 9:56.13.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Linder's time in the 60 meters moves him from ninth to a tie for eighth in the program top 10 list. Murtha's career best 60-meter hurdles time of 8.78 seconds is seventh. Di Cesare ran a career best time in the 1000 meters to move up to fourth in the record book. Rothstein enters the record books in the event with the ninth-fastest time.
 
UP NEXT
The Dutchmen will be off until January 13, 2023 when they host the annual Dutchmen Invitational inside the Arnold Sports Center.
