PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey team dropped 5-2 to the Chatham Cougars on Friday evening.
Lebanon Valley (2-7-1, 1-5-1 UCHC) opened scoring in the contest when
Brenden Yingling put a goal away off a puck from
Cade Freer at 1:31. The Cougars then responded at 11:53 and 12:07 to take the 2-1 lead over LVC going into the second period. At 11:25 in the second period, Freer tied up the contest with a power play goal with assists from
Jordan Stear and
Cameron Croteau. The Dutchmen defense then held the Cougars scoreless for the rest of the second period. In the third period, the Cougars dominated the offensive end. Chatham put their first goal of the third period away at 3:52 to make it a 3-2 game. The Cougars then put away another goal at 10:26 to build their lead to 4-2. With less than a minute remaining in the contest, the Cougars put away an empty net goal with 19:13 on the clock to cap off the 5-3 defeat over LVC.
Inside the Box
- Freer had a two-point evening with a goal and an assist.
- Yingling had a one-point game with a goal, while Stear and Croteau tallied a point each from an assist.
- Chris Mingus led the shots column with four in the match up. Haralds Jirgens, Brad Viola, Freer, and Yingling each notched three shots.
- Dylan Gutierrez and Viola topped the blocks column with two apiece.
- Ty Franchi stood in goal for LVC, making 32 saves on the evening.
- LVC led the faceoff category 33-31.
