ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team outscored visiting Salisbury University 15-8 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Sea Gulls 67-62 in non-conference action inside Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (3-4) scored the first 11 points of the game over a five-minute span forcing the Sea Gulls to call the first timeout of the game. Salisbury (3-7) used a 15-4 run to tie the game up with 23 seconds left in the quarter.
Kate Fitzpatrick found
Kailey Eckhart open for a buzzer-beating three pointer to give LVC a three-point advantage after the first 10 minutes. The teams traded buckets over the first half of the second quarter before back-to-back buckets by the Sea Gulls gave Salisbury their first lead of the game at 25-23. The visitors would score the next five points to extend their lead to seven points. The Sea Gulls knocked down a three with 1:17 to go in the half to build their largest lead of the game at eight points. A pair of free throws by
Kyrsten Joseph and a jumper by
Samya Santiague cut the deficit down to 33-29 at the half.
The Dutchmen came out of the locker room strong with Santiague and Fitzpatrick scoring on layups to even the score back up at 33. Fitzpatrick scored six of the next eight points in the game to give LVC a 39-34 advantage with just over seven minutes to go in the third. Salisbury was able to tie the game up four times before taking a 54-52 lead on a layup with 11 seconds left in the quarter. The Sea Gulls opened the fourth with three free throws to take a five-point lead. The Dutchmen locked down on defense and held the Sea Gulls without a made field goal until there was 50 seconds left in the game.
Daelyn Stabler and Eckhart scored on a pair of layups and then
Cristina Fernandez hit one of two free throws to tie the game up. Stabler scored a huge bucket on a driving layup with 26 seconds left to give LVC a huge 63-60 lead. The Dutchmen made all four of their free throw attempts to rest of the way to hold off the Sea Gulls for the victory.

- Fitzpatrick led the team in scoring with 21 points and pulled down four rebounds.
- Santiague had 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
- Fernandez was the third Dutchman in double figures with 13 points. She added four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
- Stabler just missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.
- Eckhart finished with seven points.
- The Dutchmen made a season-high 17 free throws on 22 attempts.
- LVC held the Sea Gulls to eight four quarter points on 2-15 shooting and 4-8 at the line.

The Dutchmen will return to conference play on Tuesday with a trip south to York where they will face York College of Pennsylvania at 8 p.m.
