Anderson, Annunziata Notch First Collegiate Goals Against King’s

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team grabbed their first conference win of the season with a 5-1 victory over the King's Monarchs on Friday afternoon.
 
Lebanon Valley (2-8-0 Overall, 1-6-0 UCHC, 1-2-0 MAC) did not hesitate to get on the board as first-year, Hannah Annunziata, put away her first collegiate goal off a puck from Katrina Strauts in the first minute. Victoria Scurto then added a power play goal for LVC at 5:55 off an assist from Erin Yorke to build Valley's lead to 2-0. At 15:51, Jade Julius put the Dutchmen up 3-0 going into the second period off another Yorke assist. The second period was a back-and-forth duel for both teams, as each fought to a scoreless period. The Dutchmen opened scoring of the third period, as Strauts put her third goal of the season away four minutes into the period. At 12:22, King's (0-9-1 Overall, 1-60 UCHC, 0-1-1 MAC) tallied their lone goal to make it a 4-1 game. Tiffany Anderson then capped off the 5-1 victory for LVC at 14:35 with a shorthanded goal to slot her first collegiate goal. 
 
Inside the Box
  • Julius, Strauts, and Yorke each slotted two-point games on the afternoon. Julius and Strauts each tallied a goal and an assist. Yorke dished out a career-high of two assists. 
  • Anderson, Annunziata, and Scurto each netted a goal in the contest for LVC.
  • Yorke led the shots category with six, as Strauts and Ioanna Christou followed with four a piece. 
  • Grace Mayer and Alexis Oukes led the blocks column, each grabbing two.
  • Shelby Guinard stood in goal for LVC, making 27 saves on the afternoon. 
  • LVC dominated in face offs going 36-66. Anderson went 15-23, as Katie Pounder went 14-24. 
  • The Dutchmen out shot King's 34-28 on net.

The Dutchmen will stay at Hersheypark Arena as they face King's College in the second game of the weekend series on Saturday afternoon. First face off is set for 2 p.m.
