HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team had four different players score in their matchup against the Manhattanville Valiants on Saturday afternoon.
Lebanon Valley (1-5-0, 0-4-0 UCHC, 0-2-0 MAC) and the Valiants fought a tight knit battle through the first period, ending the period scoreless.
Katrina Strauts opened scoring at 2:34 with a power play goal in the second period off a puck from
Katie Pounder. The Valiants responded with three goals at 11:21, 12:19 and 19:16 to take the 3-1 lead going into the third period.
Alexa Spiers netted a goal 2:32 into the third period to make it a 3-2 game. Manhattanville then put away a penalty shot opportunity at 3:44 to notch a 4-2 lead over LVC.
Ioanna Christou then fired a goal away at 4:50 to close the Valiants lead to 4-3, but Manhattanville put away another power play goal at 14:43 to make it a 5-3 game.
Victoria Scurto then responded with a power play goal at 18:04 to cut the lead down to 5-4, but despite offensive efforts to tie, LVC fell to the Valiants 5-4.
Inside the Box
- Pounder notched herself a two-point afternoon handing out two assists.
- Christou, Scurto, Spiers, and Strauts each put up a goal for LVC in the contest. Brenna Mulcahy dished out an assist.
- Christou led the shots column with seven, while Scurto and Strauts each followed with five.
- Alexis Oukes led the blocks column once again, with three in the matchup. Tiffany Anderson and Erin Yorke each put up two blocks.
- Shelby Guinard stood in goal for the Dutchmen, making 31 saves.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will continue UCHC action while traveling to Rochester, N.Y. to face Nazareth College. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
