HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey team took their first win of the season over the Elmira Soaring Eagles on Saturday evening.
Lebanon Valley (1-4-0, 0-2-0 UCHC) and the Soaring Eagles spent the first period in a back-and-forth battle heading into the second period scoreless.
Cade Freer opened scoring in the second with a goal at 10:36 off a passing sequence from
Artem Mikhaylov and
Chris Mingus.
Brad Viola followed less than a minute later to make it a 2-0 game, with assists from
Darion Benchich and
Blake Tosto. Both teams fought through a scoreless third period, allowing LVC to walk with the 2-0 victory.
Inside the Box
- Freer and Viola netted goals for LVC. Benchich, Mikhaylov, Mingus, and Tosto each handed out an assist.
- Tosto led the shots column with four on the evening and Brad Viola followed with three.
- Haralds Jirgens topped blocks on the evening with five, while Cameron Croteau and Max Loga followed with three apiece.
- Ty Franchi stood as a brick wall in net, earning a shutout with 50 saves.
- LVC dominated in face offs in the contest going 41-22.
