Men’s Ice Hockey Earns Conference Point With Tie At Arcadia

COLMAR, Pa. – Brad Viola had two points with a short-handed goal and an assist for the Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey team in a hard-fought 4-4 tie at Arcadia University in the first road game of the season. The host Knights picked up the extra conference point with a 2-1 victory in the shootout.

The Knights struck first on an unassisted goal in the first minute. Lebanon Valley evened the score at 9:03 of the period as Haralds Jirgens tallied his first goal for the Dutchmen against his former team. Arcadia retook the lead 57 seconds later before Viola scored LVC's first short-handed goal of the season at 11:25.

The Dutchmen took their first lead of the game a few minutes into the start of the second period as Tanner Tolliver lit the lamp for his first career goal. A few minutes later the Dutchmen took advantage of a power-play opportunity to take a 4-2 lead on a goal by Jered Stevenson. The Knights rallied for two goals in the third period to send the game into overtime. Neither team was able to score in the extra session with Stevenson having the best look just missing his second goal of the game.

Stevenson scored the first goal of the shootout in the fifth round. Arcadia scored on their attempt to send the game to a sixth round. The Knights scored in the seventh round to earn the extra conference point.
