ANNVILLE, Pa. – Taylor McInerney recorded a season-high 33 kills for the Lebanon Valley volleyball team in the regular season finale at Widener University. The host Pride won the match in five sets.
Widener took the first set 25-18 behind a strong early run that gave them an 8-3 advantage. LVC came out strong in the second set scoring the first six points. The Dutchmen fought off a late charge by the Pride to even the match up with a 25-22 win in the set. Widener dominated set three 25-12 and then the Dutchmen returned the favor dominating set four 25-14. The Dutchmen held an early 3-2 lead in the fifth set before Widener scored five straight points. The Pride built the lead up to 14-6 before winning the set 15-8.
Inside the Box Score
- McInerney was two kills shy of the program record in a match with 33. She also had 19 digs and two solo blocks.
- Robyn Stepler had a season high 13 kills and two service aces.
- Ali Whitworth had 47 assists, her second-most of the year, and seven digs
- Margaret Cole had a big night with seven kills and three aces.
- Olivia Nace had two solo blocks and Kasey Thomas recorded 15 digs.
Up Next
Lebanon Valley is finished with the regular season and will be the fifth seed in next week's conference tournament. The Dutchmen will play on Monday night traveling back to Chester to face Widener or making the trip to Grantham to face Messiah in the opening round.
