ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sorrell Long and
Gracie Johnson scored two goals each to lead the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team to a huge 4-2 victory on Friday afternoon on Arnold Field.
The Dutchmen moved into sole possession of fifth place in the conference standings and won their second straight home game. LVC dominated possession in the first half keeping the ball in their offensive half of the field for a large majority of the first 30 minutes. The Dutchmen presses the Mustangs and earned 10 first half corners. The Stevenson defense held strong not allowing a goal on the first 11 shots of the game.
LVC took advantage of a late yellow card by SU in the half and scored twice in the final minute of the second quarter to take a 2-0 halftime lead. Long fired a bullet into the back of the cage at 29:09 to begin the scoring and while the dust was still settling, Johnson fired up the large Homecoming crowd 22 seconds later knocking in a great feed from
Elena Tulli.
Stevenson scored twice early in the fourth quarter off penalty corners to tie the game up. Long gave the Dutchmen back the lead with another bullet from the right side inside the right post for her second goal of the game. Johnson added an insurance goal off a feed from
Emily Kline in the 56th minute to set the final score.

- Long continued her amazing week with the first multi-goal game of her career and first game-winning goal.
- Johnson scored for the third straight game and now has a team-high seven goals on the season. This is her second multi-goal game.
- Tulli recorded her second assist of the season while Kline dished out her third.
- The Dutchmen had another strong defensive game outshooting the Mustangs 22-3 including 18-2 in shots on goal. LVC didn't allow a single shot until the fourth quarter.
