ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College field hockey team began a huge week on Arnold Field with an important 3-2 win over Eastern University in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Wednesday evening.
The Dutchmen improved to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference with the victory and stay tied for the fifth and final postseason spot with four game remaining. LVC got on the board just 51 seconds into the game as
Skylar Dise found the back of the cage off a pass from
Emily Kline on a penalty corner attempt. The Dutchmen used another great defensive performance to keep the one-goal advantage through halftime. In the third quarter Lebanon Valley increased their lead to 2-0 when
Gracie Johnson scored off a great pass from
Sorrell Long 2:31 into the half. Six minutes later Long assisted on another goal as
Rebecca Lane fired a shot from the right wing into the back of the cage. Eastern (4-9, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) scored two goals in the fourth quarter including a penalty stroke goal with 1:16 left.

- Long recorded her second two-assist game of the season to pick up her 10th career point. She leads the team with four assists this year.
- Johnson scored her team-leading fifth goal of the year and has now scored in two consecutive games.
- Lane recorded her first career game-winning goal and fourth goal of the season.
- Dise scored her second goal of the season while taking a team-high four shots.
- Justice Washburn, Mel Mercado, and Hannah Shirey led another excellent defensive performance for the Dutchmen.
- The Dutchmen had a 15-8 shot advantage including 8-3 in shots on goal.
- Kayleigh Kmet made one save while facing just one shot in 40:23 minutes of action. Devyn Goyette and Lauren Jacsarics saw action in cage over the final 19:37.
What's Next
The Dutchmen will have one day to enjoy the victory before being back on Arnold Field on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. for another big conference game against Stevenson University. The LVC and the Mustangs are tied in the conference standings at 2-2.
