Collin Jones and
Evin Timochenko pounded the ball inside, but Eastern's fast-paced play was too much to overcome as the Eagles came away with a 68-54 win on Wednesday, Jan. 19, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth basketball matchup.
Jones ended the night with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Timochenko tallied 14 points and eight boards, while
Zach Tucker scored eight.
How It Happened
- Eastern established the game flow early, racing to a 9-0 lead. LVC raced back with an 11-5 run thanks to inside work by Jones and Timochenko to cut the lead to 14-11 midway through the opening half.
- The Eagles answered back, going up 24-13 with five minutes to go in the opening half. Eastern led 29-22 at halftime.
- Despite being down as many as 12, the Dutchmen battled back to pull within 46-39 on a three-point bucket in the corner by AJ Catanzaro with 10:47 to play. Another trey by Catanzaro just two minutes later made it 49-42 before Eastern rattled off eight unanswered.
Inside the Numbers
- Jones has double-doubles in four straight games and helped LVC to a 37-29 advantage on the glass.
- The Dutchmen rotation ran deep with 12 players seeing minutes.
- LVC is now 5-10 and 2-6 in the MACC. Eastern improved to 13-2 and 8-0 in the conference.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen hit the road to face Stevenson on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. in MACC play.
