Lebanon Valley 3, Vassar 0 (25-21, 32-30, 25-20)
SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team split a pair of contests on the second day of the Scranton Invitational on Saturday. LVC topped Vassar 3-0 to start the day but dropped their first match of the season 3-0 to Scranton in the finale. The Dutchmen are now 2-1 on the year.
How It Happened
- After a back-and-forth start to the first set, Vassar led 15-13 before the Dutchmen won four straight points and 12 of the final 18 overall to take the opening set, punctuated by an Ali Whitworth kill.
- The second set was a marathon as neither team could finish off the other. With their backs against the wall, LVC trailed 24-21 before winning three straight points to keep the set alive. The two teams would trade blows before the Dutchmen would win four of the last five points to take the second set 32-30.
- The third set was controlled throughout by LVC as they jumped out to an 11-4 advantage. Vassar never got closer than four points after that point as the Dutchmen would complete the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
- Reily Shelly finished with a game-high 18 kills for the second game in a row. Mikiah Sangrey added nine kills and Olivia Nace chipped in with six.
- Ali Whitworth finished 33 assists to lead all players.
- Vassar leaders included Claire Basler-Chang with 13 kills and Madison Wilson with 31 assists.
- Whitworth was one of five Dutchmen with double-digit digs, she led the way with 15. Kasey Thomas and Abigail Souder added 13 and 12 digs respectively.
Scranton 3, Lebanon Valley 0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-21)
How It Happened
- Scranton controlled the first set early on and led 20-13 before the Dutchmen rallied to score six straight points to pull within one. The Dutchmen would be unable to get over the hump though as Scranton took the opening set 25-21.
- In the second frame, the Royals led 15-13 before rattling off a pair of four-point runs and would end the set on a 10-3 run overall to take a commanding two-set lead.
- The Dutchmen found themselves in a hole quickly in the third set as Scranton scored the first five points. LVC would remain close throughout and would eventually tie it at 22-22 late in the set, but the Royals won the final three points to top the Dutchmen.
Inside The Numbers
- Mikiah Sangrey led LVC with nine kills. Reily Shelly added eight for LVC.
- Eryn Boken and Maddie Orth led Scranton with a game-high ten kills.
- Ali Whitworth led the Dutchmen with 20 assists.
- Caileigh Cox finished with a game-best 37 assists for the Royals.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return home for the first time this season on Wednesday evening as LVC welcomes Messiah to Sorrentino Gymnasium for the MAC Commonwealth opener. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
