ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Soccer team picked up a 4-2 bounce back win over Neumann in a physical non-conference matchup on Herbert Field on Saturday afternoon. LVC moves to 6-1 on the season while the Knights drop to 3-6.
How It Happened
- The Knights wasted little time grabbing a lead as Marlon Trejo dribbled to his left just outside the box and ripped a low shot that took a fortuitous bounce and rolled into the back of the net to put Neumann ahead 1-0 just 52 seconds into the game.
- In the 33rd minute, the Dutchmen would pull even as Alex Weese sent a short cross in from the left wing where Zach Snider volleyed the ball out of the air into the net. Just over three minutes later the Dutchmen would take their first lead of the game as Zach Creighton buried a penalty kick to put LVC up 2-1, a lead they would maintain into intermission.
- Following a pair of red cards against the Knights early in the second half, Neumann's Sam Clavijo would blast a free kick in from about 20 yards out into the top-right corner of the goal tie the game up 2-2 in the 67th minute of action.
- The Dutchmen would respond quickly with a pair of goals in a span of 7:12 to pull ahead 4-2 with just over ten minutes to go. Charlie McCormick finished off the first goal for LVC before McCormick would pick up an assist on a cross that was tapped in by Lucas Strange to all but seal the victory for the home squad.
