Lebanon Valley 3, Albright 0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-18)
READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team picked up their first conference win of the season with a 3-0 sweep at Albright on Tuesday evening. The Dutchmen improve to 3-5, 1-1 MACC on the year while the Lions drop to 2-1, 0-1 MACC.
How It Happened
- The Dutchmen led 9-6 early in the set before they took control of the opening frame when they won eight straight points to pull ahead by 11. They would cruise to a 25-13 win in the first set. The Dutchmen were firing on all cylinders in the opening set as they finished with a .294 attack percentage.
- In the second set, the two teams would go back-and-forth until the midway point of the set when LVC rattled off four points in a row to grab a comfortable 17-12 advantage. The Dutchmen would not relinquish that lead and take the second set 25-20 to open up a commanding 2-0 overall lead in the match.
- Similar to the second set, the two teams were close midway through the third with LVC holding a slim 15-14 lead. The Dutchmen would then go on a few 3-0 runs until they finally put the Lions away 25-18 to complete the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
- Reily Shelly and Mikiah Sangrey each finished with a game-high 11 kills.
- Ali Whitworth led all players with 29 assists in the win.
- Abigail Souder led LVC with seven digs. Albright's Kaitlyn Chell led all players with 11 digs.
- The Dutchmen finished the match with a .218 attack percentage, their best in a single game this season.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen head back up to Scranton this Friday their next time out as they participate at the Marywood Tri-Match. LVC will take on Penn State Berks at 7 p.m. followed by a bout with host Marywood at 9 p.m.
