How It Happened
GENEVA, N.Y. – St. Lawrence netted two goals in the final 1:07 to stun Lebanon Valley's Field Hockey team and defeat the Dutchmen 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the William Smith Classic. LVC dropped to 0-4 and the Saints jumped to 3-1.

  • Late in the fourth quarter, with just 5:03 left in the game, Emily Kline ripped a shot from the edge of the circle off Hannah Shirey's penalty corner to give the Dutchmen a 3-2 lead in thrilling fashion. Then, with just 1:07 to go, St. Lawrence's Mckenzie Haberl evened the game at 3-3 with her fourth goal of the season.
  • It seemed the back-and-forth game was destined for overtime, but with 15 ticks left on the clock in the fourth, the Saints' Ciara Halloran knocked the ball out of the air and looped it over Corinne Kearney and into the back of the net to give SLU a 4-3 victory.
  • After a scoreless opening quarter, Rachel Wright broke the 0-0 tie just under two minutes into the second when she knocked the ball past SLU's net minder for the 1-0 lead. Late in the second, the Saints' Jenny L'Hommedieu batted in the ball after a few shot attempts were blocked to even the game up at 1-1.
  • Early in the third, Wright scored her second of the game after a shot from the right side deflected off her stick and into the back of the net. In the fourth, St. Lawrence tied it up yet again thanks to Haberl's first goal of the game.
