Marymount (Va.) 3, Lebanon Valley 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-13)
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest to Marymount (Va.) University at the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday evening. The Dutchmen drop to 2-3 on the year while the Saints improve to 4-2.
How It Happened
- LVC jumped out the early lead in the opening set by winning the first four points of the match and eventually grew their lead out to six at 9-3. The Saints would chip away at the early deficit and take their first lead of the set at 17-16, capping a four-point run. With the score tied 17-17, Marymount won eight of the final ten points including the last six in a row to take the first set 25-19.
- The second set was controlled early by Marymount as the Saints jumped out to a quick 11-3 advantage. The Saints would push their lead even more when they led 16-4 following five consecutive points. The Dutchmen would try to make a late run winning four points in a row but lost 25-18.
- The final set was controlled by the Saints who won the first six points to give them an early cushion. LVC would trail 18-13 before Marymount would close the door on any comeback with seven straight points to close out the set and the match.
Inside The Numbers
- Reily Shelly led the Dutchmen with six kills, followed by Ali Whitworth with four.
- Marymount's Maya Harris finished with a game-high eight kills.
- The Saints held a strong 7-1 advantage in blocks.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen have a pair of matches tomorrow to close out the Swarthmore Invitational. LVC is on the court at noon to take on Stevens before battling with host Swarthmore at 4 p.m.
