When LVC announced the construction of new locker rooms and team meeting areas in the Heilman Center, a group of men's basketball alumni created a goal of raising $150,000 to not only support a program they love, but to honor a coach who helped define their Dutchmen experience.
Â
The group achieved its goal in July and celebrated with a FaceTime video call toÂ
Coach Brad McAlester to let him know the locker room would be dedicated in his honor.
Â
"I was surprised and thankful that my former players would consider me for this honor," said McAlester. "I appreciate that my alumni stepped up to help support our student-athletes. We're really excited about moving into the new locker rooms, which will include a video area with first-class graphics."
Â
You, too, can be a part of this exciting project for our student-athletes.

To honor Coach McAlester, to support the new locker rooms and team spaces, or even to name your own locker, visitÂ

Â
Any donors who name Coach McAlester as the honoree on the giving form will have his/her name included on the plaque in the Men's Basketball Locker Room. The deadline to contribute is September 15.
Â
The McAlester locker room project was launched by Mike Rhoades '95 and Jason Zitter '96 who created a $100,000 dollar-for-dollar challenge. A network of class volunteers—organized by J.D. Byers '05—stepped up to raise an additional $50,000 through a locker-naming effort and additional fundraising.
Â
Coach McAlester is entering his 28th season as head coach of the Lebanon Valley College men's basketball team. The program's all-time winningest coach, McAlester (397-304) has led the Flying Dutchmen to 18 postseason appearances. During his tenure at LVC, McAlester has coached nine All-Americans, 36Â Middle Atlantic Conference All-Conference players, and a Division III National Player of the Year.
