How It Happened
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Dutchmen had their fourth-quarter comeback attempt come up just short as LVC fell to Wilkes in MAC crossover action by an 11-10 score on Wednesday afternoon. LVC falls to 5-6 on the year while the Colonels improve to 4-7.

The Dutchmen offense wasted no time getting on the board in what turned out to be a high-scoring opening quarter. Alex Kiviniemi picked up the first goal of the contest just 48 seconds into the game to give LVC the early lead. Evan Crawford would score less than two minutes later as the Dutchmen jumped ahead 2-0 in the first few minutes of the game. The Colonels would respond with a pair of goals in a span of 41 seconds to tie the game up 2-2. Kiviniemi would score his second of three goals in the first quarter just before the midway point of the period to put LVC back in front. Wilkes again tallied two quick goals, this time 56 seconds a part to grab their first lead of the day. The teams would trade goals in the final 40 seconds and Wilkes held a 5-4 lead after just one quarter in a shootout of a first 15 minutes.

The pace would slow down in the second with the teams only combining for three goals. Wilkes would record the first two goals of the frame to push their lead out to three with 3:46 remaining before half. Michael Fisher would pull LVC within a pair 2:22 before halftime at 7-5.

Similar to the second quarter, Wilkes opened the third with two goals followed by a Fisher goal late in the period as LVC now trailed 9-6 with one quarter remaining. The Dutchmen came roaring back in the fourth with three unanswered goals in a span of 2:43 to tie the game up 9-9. The Colonels would answer with two goals just after the halfway point of the fourth to pull ahead again by two. Kiviniemi would get one goal back with 59 ticks left in regulation but LVC would be unable to grab the elusive equalizer as they would fall 11-10.
