How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Behind a strong performance on the mound by
Shane Stossel, Lebanon Valley blanked Hood College 1-0 in game one of a doubleheader at McGill Field on Sunday in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Baseball action.
In the bottom of the third, with one out,
Nico Santoro singled to the shortstop, followed by
Luke Blair's single right that allowed Santoro to move to third. Then,
Bryan Towers lined out to center field and Santoro scored for the game's lone run.
Earlier, in the top of the second, Stossel hit Chris Nalley and Alex Jenkins then bunted Nalley over to second, but Stossel got out of the jam unscathed and kept the game scoreless. Stossel cruised through the fourth and the fifth, but ran into some trouble again in the top of the sixth. Jordan Patterson began the inning with a single and Andrew Wenner bunted him over to second, but Stossel induced a pair of a groundouts and again escaped further damage.
Tanner Rock came in for the save opportunity in the top of the seventh and retired the Blazers in order to earn his first save of the season.
Inside the Numbers
- Blair finished 2-for-2 at the plate for LVC.

Ethan Hurd, and Santoro each recorded a hit.
- Stossel earned the first win of his young career. He tossed six innings and gave up just three hits and walked two batters.
- Hood's Patterson threw six innings and struck out nine.

How It Happened
In game two, Ryan D'Allesandro stifled LVC's offense and Hood used a five-run seventh inning to propel the Blazers to a 9-1 victory over the Dutchmen. After the split, LVC now sits at 13-9, 12-6 MACC, while Hood moved to 6-16, 4-12 MACC.
Hood got on the board in the top of the first with Stephen Sommer's sac-fly to left, and the Blazers added another in the top of the second with a RBI-groundout. In the bottom of the sixth,
Bryan Towers led off the frame with a single through the left side, but D'Allesandro was able to get out of the inning without allowing a run.
In the top of the seventh, the Blazers put the game out of reach with a five-run frame. In the bottom of the ninth, with Santoro on first after being hit by a pitch,
Ethan O'Loughlin singled to center and
Andrew Miles then singled home Santoro, but it wasn't enough, as the Dutchmen fell 9-1 in the nightcap.
Inside the Numbers (Game Two)
- Miles went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Ryan Murphy recorded his first collegiate hit this afternoon.

Michael Williams got the start on the mound and went four innings. He allowed just one earned run and struck out a pair.

Daymond Zweizig pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Dutchmen.
- Hood's D'Allesandro went seven innings and allowed no runs and struck out two.
- The Blazers' offense was led by Nick Rampone, who went 3-for-5 with three runs. Chris Nalley added three hits for Hood.
Playoff Picture
Just four conference games remain for LVC, a four-game set with Stevenson scheduled for next weekend. Currently the Dutchmen (12-6) sit in third in the conference. York sits in first at 14-2, followed by Stevenson at 6-2. Widener (10-8) and Alvernia (8-7-1) are fourth and fifth, respectively. The top four seeds will host a series in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament, which begins April 27th with the play-in game. Quarterfinal action (Best-of-3 series) is slated to happen May 1 and 2.
Who's Next?
LVC heads to Owings Mills, Md. next Saturday to take on Stevenson in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
