How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – 11 different Dutchmen recorded at least one hit in Lebanon Valley's dominant 19-1 win over Stevenson University in game one of this afternoon's MAC Commonwealth doubleheader.
LVC got off to a quick start in the top of the first when
Nico Santoro was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Later in the first,
Ethan Hurd singled home
Michael Leri to give the Dutchmen a quick 2-0 lead.
After
Kyle Kingsbury held the Mustangs off the scoreboard in the bottom of the first, LVC's offense continued to click in the top of the second, as the Dutchmen put up a crooked number to increase their lead, beginning with Leri's three-run home run to left field. Later,
Ethan O'Loughlin doubled home
Mike Bulgia, and Hurd continued his impressive day at the plate with a two-RBI double to left.
In the top of the third, the visiting Dutchmen continued to pour it on and plated six more runs. After Leri reached on an error that plated
Mitch Rickabaugh,
TJ Holdredge singled home
Chris DeClerico, followed by O'Loughlin's single that drove in Leri. Later in the frame,
Conor Smith's single scored O'Loughlin, and Rickabaugh capped the six-run inning with an RBI-single down the left-field line.
Kingsbury continued to hold Stevenson's offense scoreless until the Mustangs scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Dutchmen responded in the fifth thanks to
Andrew Miles' three-run double down the left field line, as LVC cruised to a 19-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Hurd went 2-for-3 at the dish with a game-high four RBI and two runs scored.
- Miles was 1-for-2 with three RBI, while Leri went 1-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.
- Holdredge and Rickabaugh each recorded two knocks.
- Kingsbury tossed five innings to earn his fifth win of the season. He didn't allow an earned run and struck out five.

How It Happened
In the second game this afternoon, LVC got down early but erupted for nine more runs en route to a 9-3 victory over the Mustangs. With two more wins, the Dutchmen improved to 15-9, 14-6 MACC, while Stevenson dropped to 11-11, 7-7 MACC.
In the bottom of the second, Stevenson got on the board with a two-RBI single up the middle, but LVC's comeback started in the top of the third when Smith scored on a wild pitch. Then, Leri gave the Dutchmen the lead with one swing of the bat when he launched his second three-run home run of the day over the left field fence, making it a 4-2 game.
LVC added to its lead in the top of the fifth when O'Loughlin drew a walk with the bases loaded and later, Holdredge scored on a wild pitch.
Bryan Towers then singled home O'Loughlin and
Luke Blair to extended the Dutchmen's lead to 8-2. Starting pitcher
Tanner Rock, along with
Hunter Tipton and
Brendan Landry, shut down Stevenson from there and the Dutchmen earned the sweep with a 9-3 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Towers went 2-for-5 with two RBI at the plate.
- Leri was 1-for-3 with three RBI.
- Rock improved to 4-0 on the mound this year. He went five innings and allowed three earned runs with five strikeouts.
- Tipton threw two innings in relief and allowed just two hits while striking out three.
- Eberly threw the eighth and ninth and gave up just one hit.
Playoff Picture
Regardless of tomorrow's results against Stevenson, the Dutchmen have locked up the No. 2 seed in next week's MAC Commonwealth Baseball Championship Tournament. Next Saturday, May 1, the Dutchmen will host No. 7 Messiah in a best-of-3 series. There will be two games on Saturday at McGill Field with the if-necessary game taking place on Sunday at Messiah.
Who's Next?
LVC will complete its regular season tomorrow when Stevenson visits Annville for a doubleheader beginning at noon. Prior to tomorrow's twinbill, the Dutchmen will honor its seniors on Senior Day.
