FREDERICK, Md. – The Lebanon Valley baseball team used a game-two offensive outburst to salvage a split at Hood College in MAC Commonwealth action in Frederick, Md. on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen dropped the opener 3-2 before blowing out the Blazers 13-2 in the nightcap. LVC now sits at 12-8, 11-5 MACC, while Hood is now 6-16, 4-12 MACC.
The opening game of the afternoon was a pitcher's duel from the start with baserunners hard to come by for both sides. The first two frames flew by with no runs and just one hit. The Blazers would get on the board in the bottom of the third however, taking advantage of a Dutchmen error. Saylor would reach first via an error and would come around to score two batters later on a Rampone triple to left-center to give Hood a 1-0 lead. The Blazers would load the bases with just one out but
Kyle Kingsbury worked out of trouble inducing a lineout and a strikeout to keep the score at 1-0.
Hood would push their lead out to three in the bottom of the fourth again on a triple by Rampone, this time scoring a pair. LVC would finally break the shutout in the top of the sixth when
Ethan Hurd left the yard with a solo homer to left, cutting the deficit to two. With the Dutchmen trailing 3-1 headed into their final at-bat,
Michael Leri led off the seventh with a solo bomb to center and LVC found themselves down just one. The next three batters would go down in order and LVC fell 3-2.
