How It Happened
READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team got tripped up late by an Alvernia team who put up a big 21-point fourth quarter to down the Dutchmen 48-44. LVC falls to 2-5 on the year while Alvernia picked up their first win as they improve to 1-2.

Lebanon Valley went cold down the stretch against a stingy Alvernia defense as the Dutchmen were held scoreless for the final 6:44 of regulation. LVC led 44-31 at that point in the fourth quarter before Alvernia closed the game on a 17-0 run. Taliyah Malone and Tamia Wessels combined for 13 of the 17 points for the Golden Wolves during that stretch.

LVC controlled the game for a majority of the time, holding a lead the entire game up until the 2:54 mark of the fourth. The Dutchmen were strong on the defensive end holding Alvernia to just 13 first half points and held a 20-13 advantage at the break. Emily Mealey nearly was outscoring the Golden Wolves herself through the first 20 minutes as she had 12 points of her own in the opening two quarters.

The Dutchmen would extend their lead to 11 heading into the fourth quarter, outscoring Alvernia 18-14 in the third period, LVC's highest scoring frame of the contest. Alvernia would complete the comeback thanks to an offensive outburst in the fourth, outscoring the Dutchmen 21-6 in the final ten minutes.
