How It Happened
READING, Pa. – A six-goal first quarter built a lead for the Dutchmen that they would never relinquish as they picked up a 13-7 road conference victory over Albright on Wednesday afternoon. LVC improves to 4-1, 2-0 MACC on the season while the Lions drop to 1-4, 1-2 MACC.
The Dutchmen offense wasted no time to get on the board scoring their first goal just 45 seconds into the game off a strike from
Alex Kiviniemi. LVC was just getting started as they would score five more goals in the quarter including a pair of
Michael Fisher goals as the Dutchmen ballooned their advantage to 6-0. Albright would find the back of the net for the first time with 2:51 left in the first to make the Dutchmen lead 6-1.
Fisher and
Jack Kapcsos would each score goals in the second quarter to match the Albright and the Dutchmen would take an 8-3 lead into halftime. The Lions would come out of halftime and Alex McKendry would score a pair of goals to crawl back into the game and cut the LVC lead to three at 8-5 with 8:40 left in the third.
The Dutchmen defense would buckle down for the remainder of the game allowing just two more goals while the LVC offense would tack on five goals in the final 23-plus minutes to cruise to the 13-7 victory.
