READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team opened up the 2021 season with an impressive 8-1 victory over Alvernia on Saturday afternoon. LVC took two of the three doubles matches and then went on to sweep all six singles contests. LVC is now 1-0 while Alvernia falls to 0-1.
In doubles play, LVC picked up a shutout 8-0 win at second doubles with the team of
Brendan Byler and
Jeffrey Bauer. At the third doubles slot,
Nicholas Simon and
Jonathan Yenser picked up an 8-2 win to give LVC a 2-1 lead headed into singles play.
LVC was dominant in singles action, sweeping the Golden Wolves for six victories.
Ben Hinkley led off the Dutchmen with a three-set victory over Michael Brophy at the #1 singles slot. At #2,
Brendan Byler dropped the first set before winning the next 12 games to win the three-setter 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.

Nicholas Simon, and
Jeffrey Bauer all picked up wins in straight sets for LVC including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Bauer.
