How It Happened
REISTERSTOWN, Md. – Lebanon Valley and Stevenson played to a 2-2 tie on Wednesday afternoon in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Men's Ice Hockey action. The Mustangs went on to win the shootout 1-0 to pick up the extra UCHC point. The Flying Dutchmen now sit at 2-1-2, 2-1-2 UCHC, while Stevenson moved to 7-2-1, 4-1-1 UCHC.

The first period saw no goals, however Aidan Richardson made some big saves for LVC to keep the game scoreless. Just 2:32 into the second period, with the Dutchmen on the man-advantage, Alex Borowiec tipped a shot from the point into the back of the net from Darion Benchich and Riley Johnson, giving LVC the 1-0 lead. Richardson and the LVC defense continued to keep Stevenson at bay, and held the one-goal advantage heading into the third period.

Stevenson's offense eventually awoke in the early stages of the third when Blake Colman evened the game at 1-1 from Chad Watt and Zach Egber. Under two minutes later, the Mustangs took their first lead of the game when Austin Master snuck one past Richardson, however LVC answered, once again on the power play, with Skyler Pugh's goal from Tino Alunni at 13:25 that tied things up at 2-2 and eventually sent the game into overtime.

Richardson was peppered with shots in the extra period, but was there to make all of the stops. He made five key saves in overtime, as Stevenson saw most of the scoring chances and the Dutchmen's lone shot on goal in overtime by Johnson was saved.

In the shootout, the first six total shooters' opportunities were all missed, but Evan Beers' sudden death shot found the back of the net, and Blake Tosto's attempt was saved, giving the home team the extra UCHC point in the standings.
