How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – In Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse's 2021 home opener,
Carson Frey scored with 2:08 remaining in quadruple overtime to send Lebanon Valley past FDU-Florham 6-5 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen improved to 2-0, while the Devils fell to 0-2.
After a good clear attempt, LVC set up there offense in the fourth overtime, looking for the game-winning goal.
Evan Crawford delivered a pass to
Carson Frey and he buried it, giving the Dutchmen a thrilling 6-5 win in the fourth overtime period.
LVC got things going at 12:38 of the first quarter when
Michael Fisher scored from
Jack Kapcsos for the 1-0 lead. The Devils later took advantage of a man-up opportunity and Zane Johnston scored to even the game at 1-1. Later in the first,
Alex Kiviniemi put LVC back on top with a goal, followed by Kapcsos' unassisted tally in the second that made it 3-1 in favor of the home team, a score that stood at halftime.
Frey netted back-to-back goals at 13:38 and 3:42 of the third quarter to give the Dutchmen what seemed like a comfortable advantage heading into the fourth, but FDU-Florham came storming back, beginning with Michael Stewart's goal at 14:42. The Devils then netted a man-down goal just over three minutes later, and a minute after that, Brian Stewart made it a 5-4 game. Then, with 6:24 remaining, the Devils evened the game at 5-5 when Tyler Garcia scored, but Frey's tally in the fourth overtime sent the Dutchmen past FDU-Florham.
