How It Happened
READING, Pa. – In Lebanon Valley's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth 2021 opener, the Dutchmen used solid efforts on the mound and timely hitting to cruise past Albright by a 10-2 margin on Saturday afternoon.
LVC got on the board right away in the top of the first off
Nico Santoro's sacrifice fly to left field that plated
Conor Smith. From there,
Kyle Kingsbury shut down the Lions' offense and held Albright scoreless throughout his outing. In the top of the fifth, the Dutchmen's offense provided Kingsbury with some insurance when
Mitch Rickabaugh singled home
Derek McCardell, followed by Smith's RBI-single and
Chris DeClerico's two-RBI double that made it 4-0 LVC.
The Dutchmen's huge inning continued with
Michael Leri's RBI-single through the left side, and
Mike Bulgia then doubled home DeClerico to extend LVC's advantage to 6-0. The visitors weren't done yet in the inning however, as
Andrew Miles singled home Leri, followed by back-to-back runs via a passed ball by Bulgia and Miles. Overall, the Dutchmen scored eight runs in the fifth to take a commanding 9-0 lead, as LVC cruised in game one to a 10-2 victory.
Inside the Numbers (Game One)
- Kingsbury got the win on the bump after tossing five innings and allowing no earned runs, three hits, with six strikeouts.
- DeClerico and Bulgia provided two hits apiece for LVC.
- Smith scored two runs and drew a pair of walks at the plate.
- Albright's Shaun O'Reilly was dealt the loss after throwing four+ innings and allowing five earned runs and four walks.

How It Happened
In game two of this afternoon's doubleheader, LVC's offense picked up right where it left off in game one and jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead en route to a 12-3 win over the Lions. For the season, the Dutchmen improved to 2-2, 2-0 MACC, while Albright dropped to 0-3, 0-2 MACC.
In the top of the second inning, Bulgia began the scoring for the Dutchmen when an RBI-double to right-center that scored Leri. Later, LVC pulled off a double-steal when Miles stole second and Bulgia stole home. Next,
Bryan Towers doubled home Dave Manhold and Miles, followed by Smith's double to right that scored Towers to complete LVC's five-run inning.
The offense continued to click in the top of the third when Mangold's sac-fly scored Leri, and Towers then doubled down the right-field line with the bases loaded and cleared the bases for three more RBI. Bulgia put the game out of reach later in the inning, when he launched the ball over the fence for a home run, making it 10-0 in favor of the visiting Dutchmen.
Inside the Numbers (Game Two)
- Towers finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a game-high five RBI.
- Bulgia also went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Tanner Rock breezed through Albright's lineup to earn the victory on the mound. He went five innings and allowed no runs, just a pair of hits, and he struck out seven.
Who's Next?
LVC and Albright finish off their regular-season series tomorrow afternoon when the Lions visit McGill Field for another doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at noon.
