How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley fell to York (Pa.) 7-1 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. Today's game, the Flying Dutchmen's 2021 home-opener, was called after eight innings due to darkness. LVC dropped to 0-2, while the Spartans improved to 2-0.
In similar fashion to yesterday's game, York didn't waste any time scoring and jumped out to a quick 3-0 advantage on one swing of the bat when Jack Barry launched a three-run home run over the right field wall to give York a quick 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, LVC got one back when
Bryan Mowery drew a bases-loaded walk after a nine-pitch at-bat. In the third, York's Luke Turner doubled home Austin Denlinger to make it a 4-1 score, followed by Barry's RBI-single to center field and Jayden Cowden's RBI-single up the middle.
Throughout the remainder of the game, the Dutchmen saw some chances to come close to the Spartans, but were unable to push any more runs across. York added one more run in the top of the sixth off a sacrifice fly, but LVC was unable to make a comeback and fell 7-1.
