How It Happened

The first half was the definition of a back-and-forth contest as neither team led by more than four points for the entire opening 20 minutes. The teams both struggled shooting in the opening quarter and then both caught fire in the second. Both teams shot under 30% from the floor in the first whereas in the second LVC shot 40% and Widener made a scorching 66.7% and Widener took a slim 28-26 lead into halftime.
The Pride would start breakaway in the third quarter as they outscored LVC by six. With the score tied at 31 early in the period, Widener would rattle off seven quick unanswered points to grab a 38-31 advantage, the biggest lead of the game for either side to that point. The Dutchmen would chip away and the deficit was just two after a
Samya Santiague three-pointer, but the Pride would answer with a run of their own and led 46-38 headed into the final frame.
In the fourth, Widener started to flex their muscles scoring 20 points in the final quarter, outscoring LVC by eight. LVC trailed by just five at 49-44 with 8:17 to play in regulation before Widener would close the game on a 17-6 run to put away the Dutchmen.
