How It Happened
ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team completed the season sweep over Eastern University with a 64-52 win on Friday night. The Dutchmen improve to 2-2 on the year while the Eagles drop to 0-4.
The Dutchmen used a balance attack to post a season-high 64 points as
Daelyn Stabler,
Kennedy Kuffa, and
Emily Mealey all poured in 16 points for LVC. After trailing 12-11 after the opening quarter, the Dutchmen would outscore Eastern 53-40 for the remainder of the game to cruise to the victory. The Dutchmen trailed 22-21 with 2:24 remaining in the first half before rattling off 12 straight points carrying over into the third quarter to grab an 11-point advantage, their largest of the evening to that point. Eastern wouldn't be able to close the gap much as play headed into the final quarter with LVC holding a 41-33 lead after three.
Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch would help keep the Eagles at bay and allow LVC to grab the win. The Dutchmen shot 14-18 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, including 9-12 in the final 59 seconds to put the game on ice. For the game, the Dutchmen converted 21 of 30 attempts at the free throw line, holding an 11-point advantage over the Eagles from the free throw line.
