YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball team dropped a tight 61-50 contest at York in conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen fall to 5-4, 1-1 MACC on the season while the Spartans improve to 7-1, 2-0 MACC.
How It Happened
- The game was tight throughout with the largest margin in a single quarter being just four points. The four-point margin came in the opening quarter of this one as the Spartans got off to a quick 5-0 run to open the game. The Dutchmen would fight back and take their first lead with just over a minute to play in the first at 10-9. York would rattle of five quick points to end the frame as the Dutchmen trailed 14-10 after one.
- The second quarter was another back-and-forth frame with a majority of period being played within four points. The Spartans would run off seven straight points just before the half to grab their biggest lead of the game but a pair of Daelyn Stabler free throws pulled LVC back within six at 30-24 at intermission.
- York came out in the third quarter with another quick 5-0 spurt to push their lead out to double digits. The Spartans would grow their lead up to 16 at 45-29 with 3:50 left in the third before a Cristina Fernandez three-pointer would momentarily stop the bleeding for LVC. The Dutchmen would close the quarter on an 8-1 run to pull themselves to within nine, 46-37 with one quarter remaining.
- In the fourth, the Dutchmen couldn't put together enough stops on the defensive end as the Spartans maintained a lead of at least six points for the entire fourth as the Dutchmen eventually fell 61-50.
Inside The Numbers
- Daelyn Stabler led all players with 19 points for the Dutchmen. Cristina Fernandez also ended in double figures with 11 points.
- York had three players finish in double figures led by Bradi Zumbrum who recorded 16.
- Both teams scored in double figures in every quarter.
- York held a 41-34 advantage on the glass, including grabbing 18 offensive rebounds.
- The Dutchmen committed 20 turnovers while York turned it over 13 times.
- The Spartans finished 17-for-23 at the free throw line while LVC was just 6-for-9.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return home for the first time in nearly a month as they host Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth action on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
