M. Hockey Falls to Chatham

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Ice Hockey dropped a 6-2 UCHC matchup against Chatham on Friday night in LVC's final home game of 2021. The Dutchmen fall to 2-7-1, 1-6-1 UCHC while the Cougars improve to 2-4-2, 2-2-2 UCHC on the season.

How It Happened
  • The Cougars would get on the scoreboard first in the final minutes of the opening period. Tyler Inlow would follow up his first shot that was saved to find the back of the net and give Chatham a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
  • The second period was filled with action with a lot of goals and penalties by either side. The two teams combined for four goals in the frame while also totaling six penalties, four by the Cougars and two on LVC. The Cougars would score at the 3:34 mark of the period to double their lead before Blake Tosto netted a power-play goal near the midway point of the frame to pull the Dutchmen back within one.
  • The Cougars would add a pair of goals in a 3:58 span later in the second to push their lead up to three and LVC would face a 4-1 deficit with one period remaining.
  • LVC would pick up a goal in the final period as Chris Mingus put the puck in the net on a Dutchmen power-play opportunity, bringing LVC back within a pair early in the third. Chatham would respond with a pair of goals in a span of just 24 seconds towards the end of the third to put away the Dutchmen 6-2.
Inside The Numbers
  • Blake Tosto netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the second period for the Dutchmen.
  • Chris Mingus tallied his fourth goal on the year and is now second on the team.
  • The two teams combined for 13 penalties and 29 PIM.
  • Chatham held a slim 32-29 shot advantage for the game.
  • LVC owned a 40-26 advantage at the face-off circle.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return to the ice next Friday, Dec. 10, when LVC travels north to take on Elmira College. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. in Horseheads, N.Y.
