ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball team dropped a 60-32 contest to the No. 18 Messiah Falcons in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen fall to 6-5, 2-2 MACC while Messiah improves to 7-2, 3-1 MACC.
How It Happened
- After a slow offensive start by either side, the Falcons offense got rolling ending the first quarter on a 9-2 run to hold a 15-8 advantage after one.
- In the second, Messiah got hot from the field as they shot 57.1% from the field and knocked down a trio of three-pointers to push their lead out to double digits. LVC's offense struggled to gain momentum in the second as they were held to eight points and the Dutchmen faced a 34-16 halftime deficit.
- LVC would edge the Falcons 10-8 in the third quarter but the fourth was controlled by Messiah who outscored the Dutchmen 18-6 as LVC would eventually fall 60-32.
Inside The Numbers
- Daelyn Stabler led all scorers with 14 points and she was also the team's leading rebounder with seven boards.
- Messiah's Leah Springer led all players with 22 points and she also grabbed seven rebounds.
- Messiah shot 46.8% from the floor and 56.3% from deep (9-for-16) while the Dutchmen finished shooting 29.5% overall and just 1-for-14 from three-point distance.
- The Dutchmen committed 22 turnovers for the game compared to 16 by the Falcons.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are off for a few weeks before they return to the hardwood on Dec. 30. LVC will host Cedar Crest College at 5 p.m. in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
