Balanced Attack Propels M. Hoops Over Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Basketball team used a balance attack that saw four players finish in double figures to run away from Widener late 78-63 in the MAC Commonwealth opener on Wednesday evening. LVC jumps to 4-3, 1-0 MACC while the Pride fall to 4-2, 0-1 MACC.

How It Happened
  • In the opening half, the two teams would trade buckets before LVC would start to put some distance between them and the Pride after growing a nine-point lead at 23-14 with 8:20 before halftime.
  • Widener would claw back for the remainder of the half to keep it close but were unable to overtake the Dutchmen and LVC would take a slim 36-33 advantage into half.
  • Coming out of the locker room, the Dutchmen opening the second half on an 11-4 run to push their lead to double digits at 47-37. The Pride would answer with a 12-5 run to pull back within three, 52-49, with just over 12 minutes in regulation.
  • Later in the half, LVC led 65-57 before ending the game on a 13-6 run to close out Widener 78-63 in both team's conference opener.
Inside The Numbers
  • Evin Timochenko and Collin Jones led all players with 19 points each. Timochenko also pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds.
  • Luis Garcia added a season-best 17 points and Zach Tucker would chip in with 13 points. Garcia also dished out a season-high seven assists.
  • The Dutchmen finished shooting 50.8% from the field and went 8-for-17 from three-point land. Widener shot 42.2% from the floor but really struggled from deep, going just 4-for-21.
  • LVC dominated on the glass, outrebounded Widener 39-24 for the game.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen finished their long road trip this weekend as they travel to take on York (Pa.) on Saturday in MAC Commonwealth action. Tip-off in York, Pa. is scheduled for 3 p.m.
