Lebanon Valley 6, King's (Pa.) 4
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Ice Hockey team snapped their recent winless skid with a 6-4 win at King's (Pa.) in a high-scoring UCHC/MAC matchup on Saturday evening. The Dutchmen improve to 2-5-1, 1-4-1 UCHC on the season while the Monarchs drop to 2-5, 1-4 UCHC.
How It Happened
- Jumping to the 7:07 mark of the opening period, the Dutchmen would score a pair of goals in a 44-second span to grab a quick 2-0 lead over King's. Darion Benchich and Max Loga found the back of the net in the opening period to give LVC the advantage. With just over two minutes before intermission, King's would get on the board with a late power-play goal to cut the Dutchmen lead in half at the first break.
- In the middle stanza, the Monarchs would pick up a pair of early goals in the period to grab their first lead of the contest at 3-2 at the 6:55 mark of the second period. LVC wouldn't late long to respond as Matt Kassab found nylon just 22 seconds later to pull the Dutchmen back even at 3-3.
- Later in the second, Benchich would tack on his second goal of the contest as the Dutchmen retook the lead with 5:36 remaining until the second intermission. King's would answer again with another power-play score and the two teams went into the dressing room tied 4-4 with 20 minutes left in regulation.
- Coming out of the locker rooms, LVC would control play from the jump and scored a pair of early goals in the third period to put some room between them and the Monarchs. Jered Stevenson would open the third-period scoring with a strike just 51 seconds into the frame. Chris Mingus would add a shorthanded insurance tally at the 4:00 mark of the third to double the Dutchmen lead. LVC would hold on to win by that 6-4 score for their first UCHC win on the season.
