Big First Quarter Propels W. Hoops Over Averett

ASHLAND, Va. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball team used a big opening quarter to propel themselves to a 67-54 victory over Averett University in the consolation match of the Randolph-Macon College Invitational. The Dutchmen improve to 4-2 on the year while Averett falls to 0-7.

How It Happened
  • The Dutchmen had their offense hitting on all cylinders in the opening quarter, outscoring Averett 26-15. LVC shot 67% in the opening quarter to build their double-digit lead.
  • In the second quarter, LVC opened up the frame scoring the first seven points to push their lead out to 18. The teams would trade blows the rest of the quarter as the Dutchmen would carry a 40-28 advantage into the halftime break.
  • The Dutchmen defense would hold strong in the second half, not allowing Averett to pull within single digits and the Dutchmen would cruise to a 67-54 win.
Inside The Numbers
  • Kennedy Kuffa led all scorers with 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
  • Daelyn Stabler had an all-around performance with 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
  • The Dutchmen shot 45.8% from the floor while holding Averett to just 30.3% shooting for the game.
  • LVC held a 36-26 advantage in point in the paint.
  • Both teams were sloppy with the ball on the offensive end as both sides committed 21 turnovers.
  • Kennedy Kuffa was LVC's representative on the all-tournament team.

The Dutchmen return to the hardwood on Tuesday night when they travel to take on Elizabethtown. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Elizabethtown, Pa.
