W. Hockey Topped by Nazareth

Nazareth 5, Lebanon Valley 1
HERSHEY, Pa.– The Lebanon Valley Women's Ice Hockey team fell 5-1 to Nazareth College in UCHC action on Friday evening. The Dutchmen fall to 2-5, 1-4 UCHC with the loss while the Golden Flyers stay unbeaten at 7-0, 5-0 UCHC on the year.

How It Happened
  • After a first period that saw the Dutchmen fight off multiple scoring chances by the Golden Flyers, a pair of Dutchmen penalties would give Nazareth a 5-on-3 chance that they would capitalize on. Madison Nichols would slide a puck to the slot from the right wing where Makenna Wiljanen one-timed the puck into the back of the net. LVC would trail 1-0 after the first period.
  • In the second period, Nazareth started to put some space between them and LVC as they would tack on four goals in the frame. The Golden Flyers took advantage of some more LVC penalties as two of the four scores were on the power play for Nazareth as the Dutchmen faced a 5-0 deficit after two periods.
  • The Dutchmen would show some life in the final period as they fired off seven shots in the frame, their most in the game for a single period. The Dutchmen would connect with the back of the net on one of those seven shots when Alexis Oukes fired on from near the blue line that got the Dutchmen on the board with 11 minutes remaining in regulation. LVC had a few other dangerous chances in the third but could only muster the one goal, falling 5-1 to UCHC-leading Nazareth.
Inside The Numbers
  • Alexis Oukes netted her first career goal for the Dutchmen in the third period.
  • Shelby Guinard made 38 saves in between the pipes for LVC.
  • Nazareth took advantage of power-play chances as they turned all three extra-attacker chances into goals. The Dutchmen finished just 1-for-6 on the power play.
  • The Golden Flyers outshot LVC 43-11 for the contest.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will take on the Golden Flyers again tomorrow with a 2 p.m. matinee start in Hersheypark Arena.
