No. 13 Wilkes 4, Lebanon Valley 3 (OT)
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Ice Hockey team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss to No. 13 Wilkes in UCHC and MAC action on Friday evening. The Dutchmen do pick up a point in the standings with the loss coming after regulation. LVC is now 1-5-1, 0-4-1 UCHC while the Colonels remain unbeaten at 7-0, 4-0 UCHC.
How It Happened
- The Colonels came out aggressive in the opening period as they scored a pair of goals in the first 5:09 of the contest.
- LVC would answer when Blake Tosto would find the back of the net just after the midway point of the first period to get the Dutchmen on the board. The Colonels weren't done scoring goals in the first period as they netted their third goal, second on the power play, in the opening period to take a 3-1 advantage into the first intermission.
- The Dutchmen defense would settle in the next two periods and hold the Colonels scoreless for the rest of regulation. Tosto would net his second tally of the game just 2:50 into the second period on a Dutchmen PP to pull LVC back within one. Just 3:08 later, Jackson Legro would fire a shot from the blue line that would find its way through traffic and into the back of the net to pull the game even.
- Neither team would score in the final 34:02 of regulation and the game was sent to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime session. Both teams had dangerous chances in the extra period but Wilkes would have an odd-man rush with just 42 seconds left and Tyler Barrow would bury the puck into the net to give the Colonels the 4-3 win over LVC.
