ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Basketball team dropped an 83-73 contest to MAC Freedom foe Delaware Valley in the semifinal round of LVC's annual Rinso Marquette tournament on Friday night. The Dutchmen fall to 0-2 while the Aggies improve to 1-2 on the young season.
How It Happened
- The opening minutes of this one went back-and-forth as the teams were tied 9-9 at the four-minute mark. Both sides would continue to trade buckets with neither team able to get much breathing room from the other and the two were deadlocked 19-19 with 7:26 remaining in the first half.
- LVC would finally start to put some space between them and the Aggies as they went on a 13-4 run to hold a nine-point lead with just over two minutes before intermission. The Aggies would respond with a quick 7-0 spurt of their own but LVC still held a 35-30 advantage at the break.
- The Dutchmen would start to get things working from beyond-the-arc early in the second half, getting three-balls from Payton Lewis, Zach Tucker, and Luis Garcia to push their lead back out to nine, matching their largest of the evening at 55-46.
- The Aggies would begin their climb back into striking distance and would eventually claw all the way back to take their first lead since the midway point of the first half at 67-66 following a Thomas Ibidapo layup with 4:05 remaining.
- The Delaware Valley run didn't slow down as they ran off a 24-8 run over a seven-minute stretch and lead by double-digits at 80-68 late in the second half and would hold on to win 83-73 over the Dutchmen.
