Lebanon Valley 4, Morrisville State 3
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – A huge second period that saw the Dutchmen net four goals lifted LVC to a 4-3 win over Morrisville State in the 2021-22 season opener for both teams. LVC is 1-0-0 on the year while the Mustangs sit at 0-1-0.
How It Happened
- The Mustangs controlled play in the opening period as Rhys Brown netted a pair of goals in the first 13:07 to give Morrisville State a 2-0 lead after the first frame.
- The second period is where the LVC offense started to find their footing, starting with a pair of power play goals to tie the game. Cheyenne Wilk scored the first PP tally at the 3:50 mark and at 16:38 Victoria Scurto would add another man-up goal to tie the game 2-2.
- Seven seconds after the Scurto equalizer, Chloe Glass would get into the offensive action as she put LVC ahead for the first time in the contest. With 59 ticks left before the end of the second period, Olivia Cindrich added LVC's fourth goal of the period to double the Dutchmen advantage as LVC took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
- The Dutchmen defense would continue to stifle the Mustang attack throughout a majority of the third period. Morrisville State would get a goal with just 34 seconds left but would not get the game-tying goal as LVC held on 4-3 for the victory.
Inside The Numbers
- LVC had four different goal scorers in the game. Cheyenne Wilk scored her first career goal in her first career contest. Olivia Cindrich, Victoria Scurto, and Chloe Glass all added goals.
- The Dutchmen were a perfect 2-for-2 on the power play while also not allowing a goal on the only Morrrisville State PP chance.
- The Mustangs outshot LVC 41-17. Shelby Guinard stopped 38 of the 41 shots she faced to pick up the win in net.
- LVC lost the faceoff battle 45-25.
- The Dutchmen blocked 10 shots on defense while the Mustangs only got in the way of two Dutchmen shots.

The Dutchmen are back on the ice tomorrow as they host SUNY Cortland in their home opener. Game time is set for 1 p.m. inside Hersheypark Arena.
