Eastern 3, Lebanon Valley 0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17)
ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest in straight sets at the hands of Eastern University on Thursday night to finish MAC Commonwealth regular season play for both teams. LVC drops to 10-10, 3-5 MACC while the Eagles improve to 22-4, 7-1 MACC.
How It Happened
- The two sides went back-and-forth trading runs early in the first set with the teams tied 10-10. The Eagles led by two before rattling off four straight points late in the set to put some space between them and LVC at 21-15. The Dutchmen would get to within a pair but eventually fell 25-21 in the first set.
- In the second frame, the teams again traded points through the midway point of the set with LVC holding a 12-10 advantage. With the Dutchmen leading 21-19 late in the set, the Eagles would go on a roll winning six of the final seven points to edge LVC 25-22 to grab a commanding 2-0 overall lead.
- The third set was close early with Eastern holding a slim 8-7 lead before the Eagles would win eight of the next ten to take control of the set at 15-8. The Dutchmen would get no closer than five points as Eastern took the final set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
Inside The Numbers
- Mikiah Sangrey led the Dutchmen with nine kills. Reily Shelly chipped in with six kills.
- Ali Whitworth led LVC with 16 assists and Kasey Thomas finished with a team-high 12 digs.
- Eastern's Bridgette Kelly led all players with 14 kills.
- LVc finished with five blocks compared to four for the Eagles.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will close out their 2021 campaign with a road matchup at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time in Allentown, Pa. is set for noon.
