FREDERICK, Md. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Soccer clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth playoffs with a 3-0 win at Hood College on Saturday evening. The Dutchmen have now won four in a row and sit at 8-6-1, 6-1 MACC while the Blazers drop to 4-11-1, 2-4 MACC.
How It Happened
- The Dutchmen were in complete control from the start of this one as they outshot the Blazers 13-4 in the opening half. It took just 11:14 for LVC to find the back of the net with one of those 13 shots when Maddy Hartman finished off a Lucy McGloshen assist to give LVC the early 1-0 lead.
- In the 27th minute, Hartman would tack on her second goal of the game to double the Dutchmen advantage. With LVC leading 2-0, the Dutchmen defense held strong only allowing one shot on goal in the half, which Jocelyn Umana would save to keep the Dutchmen ahead 2-0 at the half.
- In the second half, it was more of the same dominance by LVC with a majority of play taking place in the Blazer defensive third. In the 77th minute, Darrian Berkheimer would find Reagan McCarty to give LVC a nice insurance goal and all but put away Hood. LVC would keep the clean sheet intact and top the Blazers 3-0.
Inside The Numbers
- Maddy Hartman netted a pair of goals and now has five on the season to lead the LVC offense.
- Lucy McGloshen and Darrian Berkheimer each recorded their second assists on the season, tied for the team high.
- Reagan McCarty netted her first career goal late in the second half.
- Jocelyn Umana recorded her sixth clean sheet and second in as many games.
- LVC held a 21-8 shot advantage and 9-3 on target for the game.
- The Dutchmen had nine corner kick chances compared to just three for Hood.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Moravian College in a rescheduled non-conference game from earlier this year. Game time in Bethlehem, Pa. is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
