Elizabethtown 3, Lebanon Valley 0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-14)
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team split a pair of matches in their final tri-match of the season at the Elizabethtown Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen fell 3-0 to host Elizabethtown to start the day before bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Misericordia. The Dutchmen are now 9-9 on the season while Elizabethtown is now 18-6 and Misericordia now sits at 13-12 overall.
How It Happened
- Elizabethtown had things working early in the first set as they opened up a quick 11-2 lead over LVC including a stretch of seven consecutive points. The Dutchmen were unable to get back into the set as the Blue Jays kept a comfortable advantage throughout and won 25-11 in the opening set.
- The second set was much more competitive as LVC and Elizabethtown were tied 8-8 early on. The Blue Jays would start to pull away late pushing out a six-point lead at 21-15. The Dutchmen would look to claw their way back into the set late getting within three at 24-21 but E-Town would hold on 25-21 to pull ahead 2-0 overall.
- LVC led the third set by as much as three, and led 10-9 before the Blue Jays rattled off six straight points to grab a 15-10 advantage. Elizabethtown would take eight of the final ten points to complete the sweep with a 25-14 win in the third set.
Inside The Numbers
- Reily Shelly led the Dutchmen with nine kills. Ali Whitworth finished with 20 assists.
- E-Town's Bryanna Miller led all players with 14 kills.
- The Blue Jays tallied eight blocks compared to just two for the Dutchmen.
- LVC finished with an attack percentage of .067 while E-Town attacked at a .296 rate.
Lebanon Valley 3, Misericordia 1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-17)
How It Happened
- Misericordia grabbed the early lead in the opening set with a quick 8-4 advantage. The Dutchmen would battle back and win five straight points to take a 14-12 lead at the midway point. The Cougars would respond with a run of their own, this one a seven-point run, to retake the lead at 21-15 and would eventually take the first set 25-18.
- In the second set, it was the Dutchmen who opened the early lead at 7-3. Later in the set with the scored tied 8-8, LVC would rattle off six straight points grab control of the set. They would go on the finish off the Cougars 25-17 to tie the match up 1-1.
- The third set was all Dutchmen as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back. LVC had multiple five-plus scoring runs as cruised to an easy 25-10 win in the third. The fourth set was led early by the Cougars 7-4 before a five-point run by LVC to grab the lead 9-7. Later in the set with the Dutchmen trailing by one, LVC would score eight consecutive points to grab hold of the match with an 18-12 advantage. They would go on to win the fourth set 25-17 to claim victory, 3-1.
Inside The Numbers
- The Dutchmen were led by Reily Shelly with 12 kills and Mikiah Sangrey who finished with 11 kills.
- Ali Whitworth led the way with 24 assists. Defensively, Kasey Thomas led the Dutchmen with 14 digs. Whitworth would chip in with nine digs as well.
- LVC finished with nine blocks on the day while the Cougars had just five.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are back in action Tuesday when they host Alvernia in the final home match of the season. Game time is scheduled at 7 p.m. in Sorrentino Gymnasium. LVC will celebrate Senior Day prior to the contest.
