Widener 3, Lebanon Valley 2 (21-25, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-10)
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five-set match against Widener in MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday afternoon. The Dutchmen fall to 8-8, 2-4 MACC with the loss while the Pride jump to 17-7, 3-3 MACC.
How It Happened
	- The Dutchmen took the opening set after a majority of the set was played within a few points, neither team able to stretch out any sort of lead. With LVC trailing 18-16, the Dutchmen would win nine of the final 12 points to pull away and take the first set 25-21.
- The second set was similar to the first and with the two sides tied 13-13 the Dutchmen would rattle off four straight to pull ahead. The two would trade points before the Dutchmen recorded a pair of runs of three straight points to win six of the last nine and grab a 2-0 overall lead, taking the second set 25-19.
- Widener came out swinging in the third set jumping out to a quick 6-1 advantage. LVC led 14-13 at the midway point of the frame before the Pride went on a run of eight straight points to open up a 21-14 lead. They would go on to win the set 25-16 to keep the match alive.
- The Pride again jumped ahead of LVC early in the fourth set, this time opening up a 9-4 lead. The Dutchmen would claw their way back to within one at 19-18 but Widener would answer with four points in a row to push their lead back out to five. The Pride would hold on 25-21 to force a decisive fifth set.
- In the fifth, the teams traded points and sat tied 6-6 early on. Widener would put together a few back-to-back points over a 7-3 run to pull ahead 13-9, needing just two more to complete their comeback. After a Dutchmen point, the Pride would take the final two points to win 15-10 and 3-2 overall.
Inside The Numbers
	- Reily Shelly and Mikiah Sangrey led all players with 18 kills apiece. Olivia Nace also tallied double-digit kills for LVC with 10.
- Ali Whitworth finished with 43 assists, this set a new career-high for her and was also her third game of 40+ assists.
- Kasey Thomas led the Dutchmen defensively with 18 digs, Julia Rill added 14 digs.
- Widener's Carly Venit finished with seven blocks. Widener as a team finished with 12 blocks while LVC posted just three.
- The Pride finished with a .299 attack percentage compared to .198 for the Dutchmen.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen take part in their final tri-match of the season their next time out as they will compete at the Elizabethtown Tri-Match on Saturday. LVC will take on host Elizabethtown at 11 a.m. before battling with MAC Freedom foe Misericordia at 1 p.m. in Elizabethtown, Pa.
