How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. –
David Alcock's goal with 2:11 to go in the first overtime gave Lebanon Valley's Men's Soccer team a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory over York College of Pa. on Homecoming Saturday. The Dutchmen improved to 10-3, 3-2 MACC, while the Spartans fell to 3-7-3, 1-3 MACC.
With 3:13 to go in regulation,
Anderson Velozwong delivered a centering pass to
Aaron Weitzel and he buried it to even the game at 2-2 and send it into overtime.
In the first extra period,
Zach Reed gathered a ball on the far left side of the field by LVC's benches and delivered a cross to Alcock, who headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Dutchmen a thrilling 3-2 win on a rain-soaked field.
York was first to strike as Mitchell Seipt netted a goal from Luke Nall just 6:21 into the game to give the Spartans the early lead. Then, just over 10 minutes later, in the 17th minute, York fouled LVC in the box and the Dutchmen were awarded a penalty kick.
Peter Foerster stepped up and drilled it to tie the game at 1-1.
Then, in the 38th minute, York went on top 2-1 thanks to Jack Mitzelfelt's tally from Brandon Holy, but late in the second half, LVC tied it and eventually won it in overtime thanks to Alcock.
