How It Happened

Five different players found the back of the net during Lebanon Valley's decisive 5-0 shutout victory over MAC Commonwealth foe Hood at Arnold Field on Friday night, Oct. 15.

After a bit of a defensive struggle to start the game, the Flying Dutchmen (7-8, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) broke through in the second quarter when Alana Antonello deflected home a ball off an assist from Emily Kline with 3:42 left until halftime.

LVC turned it on in the third quarter, as the offense exploded to the tune of three goals in six minutes and change. Hannah Shirey got things started with a marker off a nice feed from Lexi Ward in the 38th minute and Bridget Rutkowski finished off a centering pass from Danielle Alba at the 1:07 mark. Just before the quarter came to an end, Abbie Keath put one into the back of the cage off a Rutkowski find to increase the advantage heading to the final 15 minutes.

Midway through the final quarter, Elena Tulli escaped a group of Hood defenders and put her attempt past Blazers goalkeeper Richana Brown with less than seven minutes to play, adding an insurance marker in the closing moments.
