How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team dropped a 9-8 contest to Marymount (Va.) in a back-and-forth contest on Saturday afternoon. The Saints closed the game scoring three unanswered man-up goals in a span of 90 seconds to rally for the win over the Dutchmen. LVC falls to 1-4 on the season while the Saints are now 1-5.

LVC grabbed the early lead after the first quarter by a 3-2 mark. With the game tied 1-1, Alex Kiviniemi and Trevor Holak each found the back of the net, just 64 seconds apart, to grab a quick 3-1 lead. Marymount would score late in the period to pull within one. Each team would net a pair of goals in the second quarter as the Dutchmen carried a 5-4 lead into the locker room at the half.

The second half saw the physicality ramp up as each team received five penalties in the final 30 minutes of action. After a Saints goal to start the half, LVC would regain the lead by taking advantage of one of those penalties when Josh Croyle scored a man-up goal at the 9:25 mark of the third to give LVC the lead back at 6-5. Later in the third, Marymount would tie it back up 6-6 before Kyle Golden and Alex Kiviniemi each scored for the Dutchmen, Kiviniemi's being a man-up strike, would put LVC ahead 8-6 headed into the final period.

The fourth quarter was controlled by Marymount as they scored three times while holding LVC off the scoreboard for the entire 15 minutes. The Saints would take advantage of some costly LVC penalties by scoring three straight man-up goals in a 90-second span giving Marymount a 9-8 lead with 9:32 to play.
