How It Happened
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Lebanon Valley's offense continued to fire on all cylinders in a 16-5 clobbering of Maritime College (N.Y.) on Thursday morning. The Flying Dutchmen, who posted a perfect 7-0 record in the Sunshine State, improved to 8-2, while the Privateers dropped to 3-1. In seven games in Florida, LVC outscored its opponents 71-25.

The Dutchmen once again gained momentum early thanks to Michael Leri's RBI-single through the right side in the top of the first that plated Bryan Towers. LVC increased its advantage in the third inning thanks to a four-run frame. Conor Smith doubled home Bryan Mowery, followed by Mike Bulgia's RBI-single to right. Mitch Rickabaugh then laced a two-run single that score Bulgia and Leri to make it a 5-0 score.

After adding a run in the bottom of the fourth, the Dutchmen's offense erupted in the fifth inning where LVC plated eight runs. Tanner Rock smoked an RBI-double to right center, followed by Ethan Hurd's RBI-single to center. After Towers hit a sacrifice fly, Chris DeClerico tripled home Hurd to make it a 10-0 score. LVC then took advantage of some Maritime fielding errors, and later, Rickabaugh singled up the middle to score Mick Bafunno and Leri for the 14-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Privateers attempted a comeback and scored five runs, however in the bottom of the inning, Andrew Miles singled home Hurd, followed by Dan Scalley's RBI-single to first base to score Mowery. Five LVC pitchers combined to allow just one earned run in nine innings, as the Dutchmen held on easily for the 16-5 win.
