How It Happened
READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's basketball team fell to the 24th-ranked Albright Lions in MAC Commonwealth action, 76-51, on Saturday afternoon. Big second and fourth quarters did in the Dutchmen as Albright outscored LVC 44-24 in those periods combined.
 
LVC came out strong in the opening quarter as they opened up a five-point advantage, holding Albright to just four points through the first 7:55 of the game. The Lions offense would close the quarter on a 9-2 run, led by Dejah Terrell who scored four points in the last 29 seconds to give Albright a slim two-point lead after one quarter.
 
The second quarter was controlled by Albright as they extended their led to double digits and took a 33-22 lead into the break. The Lions outscored the Dutchmen 20-11 in the period to give Albright a nice cushion at halftime.
 
The third quarter went back-and-forth with each team answering any spurt of offense from the other. The Dutchmen had some success at the offensive end, pouring in 16 points in the frame, but could not get any close than nine points as the Lion offense was also clicking in the third and led by 14 with 10 minutes to play. Albright would control the final stanza and pick up the 76-51 win over LVC.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Emily Mealey continued to be strong on the offensive end with a game-high 20 points to go with 12 rebounds.
  • Morgan Bamberger also poured in 15 while making five 3-pointers.
  • Dejah Terrell led the Lions with 19 points. She was one of five Lions to finish in double figures.
  • Albright was clicking in the fourth quarter, shooting 72.7% from the field and hitting seven of nine free throws for a 24-point final frame.
  • Albright outrebounded LVC by just one, 34-33.
  • The Lions converted 31 LVC turnovers into 38 points. LVC turned just 10 Albright turnovers into seven points.

 
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen stay on the road for their next contest as they travel to take on Hood College on Wednesday night. Tipoff in Frederick, Md. is slated for 8 p.m.
